The company operates from a purpose-built shipyard within the Tasmanian shipbuilding precinct on the shores of Prince of Wales Bay, convenient to Hobart city and airport.  The 1500 metre construction facility enables two vessels to be built side by side, simultaneously. Each building bay has 13.0m clear headroom and is served by 12 x 5.0 tonne overhead cranes.

An innovative, hydraulically hinged launching ramp allows vessels to be launched and retrieved and a full service fit out wharf facilitates final fit out and after sales service projects.

RDM have demonstrated proven capability with an impressive register of vessels. Fast passenger ferries from 20m to 53m in length, complex Offshore Support Vessels (OSV) and luxurious overnight cruise vessels make up the portfolio.

With DNV certified welders as part of a skilled workforce, RDM have the capability to build vessels to any survey requirement. Many of the RDM team have been with the company in excess of ten years, offering a significant depth of knowledge and experience in the highly specialised field of aluminium ship construction.

RDM’s commitment to their clients’ objectives, overall quality of construction and finish, engineering and electrical excellence, attention to detail and after delivery support set them apart from local and international competitors.
